1. Obtain a Troop Tour Permit from the binder or website.
2. Speak with Scoutmaster and Committee Chair before beginning any planning.
3. Begin planning at least 2-3 months in advance. Have youth present the outing at the PLC 2-3 months before planned date. Both Adult and Scout must attend all PLC meetings leading up to the event and provide updates as necessary.

Have a clear goal of what needs to be accomplished and create itinerary
Get scout sign ups
Make announcements for event
Complete Tour Permit and After-Action Report
Secure reservation (with assistance from Outdoor Activities Coordinator)
Plan transportation
Keep medical forms
Secure appropriate adult leadership
Assist scout and follow up
Input event into scoutbook and scout handbooks
5. The Tour permit is a living document, meaning it will be updated a few times throughout the planning process.
6. Signups must be done through the troop website google form.
7. Once Tour permit is completed, get signed by Scoutmaster and Committee Chair. Provide final tour permit copies to Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, and Outdoor Activities Coordinator.
8. Both Scout and Adult must attend the event. During the event think about what could be done better next time.
9. After the event, complete the After-Action Report and provide copies to Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, and Outdoor Activities Coordinator.
10. Attend the following PLC to report the events successes and opportunities.
Ensure that event is announced with plenty of time for signups. Announcements must be made at troop meetings, Troop and Adult GroupMe, and can be posted on Troop Website.
Adults should not be planning the event for the scout. This is an opportunity for the scout to learn how to plan and execute an event.

Short Term: Less than 72 hours. This would be our typical weekend campout or patrol campout
Long Term: Greater than 72 hours like Summer and Winter Camp
Day trip: This would be a day outing that would not involve a night away.
Service: This would be an event for service hours like volunteering at a food bank or scouting for food.
Merit Badge: A on day trip to a merit badge offering
Event Title: Name of the event Ex. Brave Eagle Patrol campout or Survival Camp
Event Purpose: Why is the event taking place? Ex. Survival training
Date Range: When is the event taking place?
Location: Where is the event taking place?
Lead Scout: Who is the scout in charge of planning the event? This does not necessarily mean the SPL.
SPL/PL line: Who are the youth leaders attending the trip?
Adult in Charge: Who is the adult assisting the youth in planning the event?
Second/Third adult: Additional adults attending the outing for 2 deep leadership?
Yes/No questions: 4 yes or no questions to verify preparedness. If items will be borrowed from troop, please submit list to PLC and Scoutmaster.
