Pre-Campout Planning

How do I sign up to attend a campout?

A week or two before the event a Google Form link will be posted in GroupMe. This helps create an attendance roster, aid in meal planning, make transportation arrangements, and assure there is enough leadership available. Please contact the Scoutmaster if something comes up and you are no longer able to attend.

How does Troop handle meals?

Scouts plan, purchase, prepare and eat with their patrol. The Monday Troop meeting before the campout is when menus are finalized. Friday dinner is on your own, the scouts will prepare Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner and should have a 'grab and go' style pre-prepared breakfast for Sunday. A scout is assigned as grubmaster to acquire and properly store the food to bring to the campout. An entire weekend worth of groceries for the patol should not exceed about $10 per scout. All cooking utensils are in patrol boxes, which the patrol quartermaster maintains, and stoves are provided by the Troop. Scouts may bring their own snacks. All food is stored in the trailer.

***NO PEANUT PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED AT TROOP 105 EVENTS!***

ATTENTION: Water and sports drinks are the only beverages allowed at scouting outings. NO SODA OR COFFEE for scouts.

What should I pack?

ALWAYS bring a reusable water bottle, make sure to label it with your name. Don't forget that handbook!

PRO TIP: Label EVERYTHING! There are approximately 50 scouts in Troop 105, and all our gear looks the same, if you want it back, put your name on the item! Check the internet, there is a personalized waterproof sticker for that!

Do I need to bring my own tent?

No, troop provides a tent. We like to set up a model campsite. You will be assigned to a tent based on age, your tentmates will be within 2 years age of each other. After the campout, one scout from the tent will take it home to dry and clean. Tarps will also need dried and moving blanket washed. The tent, 2 tarps and moving blanket will be returned to the trailer at the next Monday meeting.

Where should I be dropped off for a campout?

Depends. If it is a close/local campout, within about 20 to 30 minutes from MB, you need to be dropped off on site. If our destination is further away, we meet at the Scout House and carpool.

May I bring my phone?

Yes, if you have your Cyber Chip and abide by Troop rules about electronic devices.

***Troop leadership will confiscate phones if scouts are using them in any way the adults deem inappropriate. Devices will be returned to the parent/guardian at the conclusion of the event.***

How does the Troop communicate?

We rely on GroupMe. Download the app then a complete this Google Form to be added to the group(s). There is a 'T105 Adults' group and an 'All Troop (NOT during school hours)' group. Your patrol may, and should, have one as well.

We also use Troop email accounts.

ATTENTION: Scouts, when sending an email or GroupMe message to an adult leader, please include a parent or guardian.

PRO TIP: Scouts, when registering for your own GroupMe account, remember, you must be '18' or older.

Who do I talk to if I have a question or concern?

Troop is BOY LED. First you talk to your Patrol Leader (in person or through your patrol GroupMe). Then he, or you, may approach the Senior Patrol Leader if you were unable to resolve the issue. If the SPL needs help assisting you, he will contact an ASM or the Scoutmaster. Your SPL is the boss.

***Parents should allow their scout to ask questions and resolve conflicts as much as possible.***
